This was probably the hardest section to write as a lot of the feelings involved are hard to describe.
I love beautiful things (ornaments, jewellery, clothes etc) and really admired the creators.
I was a little scared when I first started on Dragon Isle but as the stitches started forming a design I was encouraged to go further.
I find that when I stitch I can block out the rest of the world. It's a peaceful and calming time and it's something that's just for me. I'm sure all you wives and mothers will know what I'm talking about.
This alone was enough to keep me cross stitching, but when I framed and hung the finished product I was amazed at the responses. Even though I'd make heaps of mistakes and they stood out like a sore thumb to me, no one else seemed to notice. Most people thought I had bought it. When I said I made it I felt a small part of the admiration I had given to the creators of the other beautiful things in my home.
