My Quiet Refuge Cross Stitch

My Quiet Refuge

As this was my next project I decided to get on with it. It is on Linen (eek), but that didn't put my off too much. I had done all the edgeing and photocopied the pattern.

Time to seperate the strands of floss as this is a kit. There was no indication of how many colours there were (looked like about 30 or 40), also no information on how many strands of floss there was in each colour (the frustration mounted). The strands of floss were approx a metre long. By the time I'd gotten about a quarter of the way through I had ended up with something that only a kitten would love.

Most kits come with a floss seperator - a piece of card with holes that you can thread your floss through. Not only did this one not have enough holes, but there were no names for the colours (I think it was a generic one - certainly not adequate enough for this pattern)

The chart came with minimum instructions (although they were in several languages). There was a list of symbols that coresponded to floss colours, but as there was no indication as to which colour was which (there were at least 4 pinks) I gave up.

At first I though I'd missed a page but after going though everything, it seems like that was all there was.

Anyway I've shelved this project. I might attempt it again some time in the future, but I've got better patterns to start on.
