My son is an avid reader and always has two or three books on the go at once (a bit like my cross stitching). He's always running out (read - losing) bookmarks so I decided to make him this one for Christmas (2005). I got the lettering from a great celtic site - http://www.celticxstitch.ie/cgi-bin/stitches.cgi.
It's a free celtic lettering chart generator. I added some card to the back, did some cording and a tassel (yes he likes the fact that the tassel isn't even), and glued on some red and gold ribbon.
Overall the effect is pretty good and he thinks it's very special. Like all kids they love to see their name in print so I don't think he'll lose this one.
